ECHOES – A New Musical

Inspired by actual soldiers’ letters and journals, ECHOES is a stage musical of three stories of love and loss, over three wars, and how they are forever connected.

Two slaves during the American Civil War are torn apart after the birth of their child, a young Captain and his fiancée in WWI are separated and hope their love will carry them through the war, and a father during WWII struggles with coming home to his daughter after the death of his wife and what he has done on the front lines in the name of duty.

For years, I wanted to write a musical about war and its effect on families and relationships.

As I began researching many different wars, reading mostly journal entries and personal letters to and from home, I began to forget which war I was reading about. All of the stories were the same. All of the anguish, all of the heartache, all of the loneliness and misery were all the same.

This was the story I wanted to tell.
